anyone else hate the climax?
I mean, the fight itself wasn't that spectacular, honestly. It would've been much more fun to watch had if both suits were on full-power, just to see how Obadiah's tech fairs against Tony's at his best. All the fight consisted of, was Iron Monger smashing cars at Stark and then the latter having to resort to sneaky tactics after realizing how power drained his suit was.
But the part that struck me as especially lame, was the part when Tony tells Pepper to "PUSH IT!!!" The drama there just felt so cliche and tacked on, and it doesn't even seem to really fit the scenario the film was presenting us with. We're supposed to think Tony's become a better man by choosing to sacrifice his life for the greater good, but what good is that? We don't know what Obadiah exactly plans to do with the Iron Monger suit after finishing Stark, so what's at stake? What makes Tony feel as though he has to sacrifice his life to beat this guy?
Not to mention, having him make an attempt to sacrifice his life already in his first film, renders all his later sacrifices in the MCU (throwing the missile into the space in the first Avengers, using the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out Thanos in Endgame etc) somewhat worthless. That line Cap throws at Stark about him not being the guy to make the sacrifice play, is rendered useless by how Tony's already shown his willingness to put his life on the line in this film alone.
Overall, the climax is just lame. Who's with me?
