I haven't read the book, so this is specific to the movie.

The makeup, CGI, puppets, and sets are great. It's colorful, weird, fun, and a world worth seeing.

The movie isn't the best, but I miss seeing things that aren't all generated in a computer. I see some people aren't happy with the cast. As a guy who's only point of reference to the material is this movie, it's not bad. It's just not amazing. Regardless, The production is great. It's fun to go back and see a nice mixture of practical and CGI effects in a movie with a lot of color.

Agreed . When this came out i was pretty dismissive of it. But now from a family man perspective, its a good one . I really enjoy the hammyness of it now. Kinda reminds of red dwarf at times, im sure red dwarf was some what inspired by the book or something too. Personally never read the book i like my scifi books grounded some what in reality. But im open to all sorts of scifi movies. Sam rockwell is so fun in this movie

Yea as a 20 somthing , i was into gritty rated r movies , indie films, still am .

But with two young kids, and a busy work life, its really difficult to find a window to watch those. So its all about the family friendly movies lately.

I would say 4 out of every 5 movies i watch now are a family friendly.

I WASNT referring to the show family guy , if THATS what you thought :)
