74 cents for a burger?

Were burgers really that cheap in 2004 or was Spielberg changing the price for the movie for convenience of Tom Hanks’ character being able to afford food by just collecting quarters?

reply

Yep, back then McDonalds was like 59 cents for a burger and 69 cents for a cheeseburger. Guess the taxs brought it up to 74

reply

Dang! I wonder if there are factors besides inflation to attribute to the massive price increase in less than 20 years.

reply

I think the first big hike happened when W Bush moved corn supply towards ethanol production to hook up farmers, it caused food prices and feed prices for cattle to climb

reply

And did nothing for gas consumption

reply

Yeah BUT it was an airport and food is usually close to double, whatever it is everywhere else
