Yes, flip phones in 2004 DID have camera phones, they were just smaller, he could've looked through it and possibly find pictures of Sam.
I think there was a password needed on Sam's phone. And yeah it was ridiculous how he never recognized her. Someone did make a good comment about that, though. They said him not recognizing her was to show that people do look at people like her but they don't take the time to see those people. She said something to him like "maybe you were looking just not actually seeing."

I agree. He should have at least narrowed down the choices to blonde girls...unless he was convinced that she was wearing a wig that night. And surely, he should have remembered her height after talking to her for at least 30 mins...even her voice. You can't be that blind or deaf, especially if you're attracted to someone. I would try to remember every detail about her.
shareI thought it was ridiculous too, though Sam was kind of the "invisible" girl at that school, and a lot of men (particularly teenage boys like Austin) tend to be totally clueless about the little details when it comes to other people, including women.
