I watched a pre-release screening of this movie in 2003 and thought that the twist was that the cashier lady was his ex-wife.....I had a hard time distinguishing them at the end at least.

I rewatched it a few days, and still couldn't distinguish these two actresses.

Damn you white people.....you all look alike!

You're right - they are very similar in appearance, but then there is the belief that people have a preference for a certain 'type' so it may be that way on purpose. Maybe he was drawn to these two women.

The two actresses were Melora Walters and Sheila Kelley. If you google them, you'll see.
