A super spy can't have a personal life

The entire film is about Ethan Hunt trying to protect and rescue his wife. If Ethan had no wife, no family, he would have become an indomitable agent. The reason that James Bond doesn't get married and start a family is that emotional attachment would become a deadly trap for him in fulfilling his role as the super spy. There is a good reason why Jesus Christ stayed celibate. If Jesus had his own family, he couldn't have gone to the cross and die for the world. Women and children become heavy weights upon men's shoulders. Many times, men risk their lives trying to protect their families. In MI III, Ethan Hunt's ability to do his job is terribly jeopardized because of his attachment to his wife. You can't live an ordinary happy family life and carry off a big responsibility at the same time. One has to choose one or the other.

See the last 007 abomination.
It proves you right.

Proves you wrong. Bond was retired.

In the first Mission Impossible, Cruise had no wife, kids or living parents. So a US govt guy threatened to ruin ...not kill...Ethan's unseen aunt and uncle. Everybody has SOME relative...
