Gooding's acting so bad it was comedic in places.

I was very surprised by Gooding's performance, especially given his brilliant past performances. His performance in Boys in the hood(or however it was spelled) was about the best acting job I've ever seen. Yet his performance in Radio was easily outshined by Sean Penn's in I am Sam, and even by Adam Sandler's in Punch Drunk love.

The movie overall was cute enough, I guess, but it just wasn't as touching as many others I've seen. It was too formulaic and too self-indulgent. Not bad, but just not very good at all.

People who say Cuba Gooding did a poor acting in this movie, have never been around mentally handicapped people before. I've worked with mentally challenged children and adults, and I was amazed at how well he portrayed such a character. His acting was more than good, it was absolutely brilliant. He should have received every award available for his performance.

I know this is a very old thread, but I thought Cuba Gooding's acting was spot-on. I have an adult daughter who went through 12 yrs of special education, and as an adult participates in Special Olympics, Best Buddies, and many more activities for adults with disabilities. I am around numerous adults and children with disabilities on a regular basis, and from that perspective I can say that Gooding did an outstanding job.

The OP and others who agree with him are the ones who are mentally challenged. I thought Gooding couldn't have been better.

Maybe you could've done better, obviously mentally challenged as you are.

he was so retarded it was beyond believable he had to have the worst acting performance ever in this movie it was a joke he ruined the movie
