Disappointment

Some while ago I decided to go watch this movie with some friends because it had such high ratings on imdb. We watched it, kind of appreciated it, but for no more than a strong 6, perhaps a weak 7, it wasn't more to it than that... That was the opinion of all of us!

So, I was just wondering who else found this movie quite as disappointing as we did? I'm looking through topics in which, probably die-hard W&G-fans, all very cheesy say that this is the 'greatest', 'hilarious', 'fantastic' etc. (animated) movie!
I'm getting the impression the high rating back then was just because a lot of fans decided to strike imdb together, all giving 10s, to get it into the top 250... What do you, objective moviewatchers think?

Oh and by the way, I really do like English humour and many other kinds of it, just not the not-funny, cliché and TOO British lame humour. And, yep, I think Wallace & Gromit contained too much of that childish content.

You are critiquing it for being "TOO British"? That doesn't make sense, it's like criticizing Bollywood movies for being "TOO Indian".

Boing!

Someone's bedtime I think.

Well, here's one thing to consider. Aardman Studios burned down in 2005, shortly after they finished this film. They'd spent 5 years animating the whole thing. For a lot of us Wallace and Gromit fans, we want to remember this as another great Wallace and Gromit flick, if not the greatest. Especially given it's their first full-length film (and one of their only ones, too). And especially given everything they put into it and all that was lost.

Very well said, it's a weak 7 alright. Judging by the amount of joy received.

Having said that - the animation and amount of work put into making this movie are second to none.
