Why does everyone hate this one?

I think the Harry Potter films are overall decent adaptations. I find the books to be better, but the films capture the world fantastically, are excellently cast and are adapted to the screen well enough to allow changes for film without sacrificing TOO much of the plot (which is VERY complex).

I don't get why people hate CoS. I find it expands the world and deepens the bond between the characters. It also is a generally faithful adaptation. If anything, the fifth film is the weakest to me. The book is drab and somber, but it's meant to be, but it's not boring, like the OotP film is.

I know it's the longest of the Potter movies. Running about 2hr 33min. I think it's one of the better ones. it's not the worst.

The first two are only unfairly compared to later films since the style and tone of the series changed dramatically with Prisoner of Azkaban. Before PoA, the first two films were considered brilliant movies, but because PoA is one of the greatest movies of all time, it made CoS and SS seem weak by comparison.
