Criminally Underrated Movie

People got pissed off just because it didn't have any jaw-dropping twist.

Its brilliantly written, shot and directed with a subtle but great climax. To me, it stands 2nd best after 'The Sixth Sense'.

I know this film got some criticism when it came out, I really don’t remember why, but I don’t think it is criminally underrated. Like other posters have said, this film has rewatchability on its side. It’s also written and acted quite well.

This is up there as one of my favorite Shamalan flicks. It has mood, tension and some good jump scares. IMDb has this at a 6.8 which, to me, means it was well received.

So, was this a good movie? Absolutely, I’ve watched it countless times and still enjoy it.

Is it criminally underrated? Nah, I think there are some that disliked it, but overall it was well received.

The OP forgot to mention the brilliant score by the criminally underrated James Newton Howard.

Well the "Twist" was the Aliens were afraid of water

The Twist was Mel Gibson's wife foresaw the future and indicated the action which Joaquin Phenix had to do; hence counting her contribution also to protect the family.
