Theres obviously more aliens out there somewhere and even the son in this says if they was defeated they'd come back decades or hundreds or thousands of years later. I just think it'd be interesting to get the cast back with the kids all grown up, Rory Culkin and Abigail Breslin and have the aliens return more prepared and more hostile.
I dunno may be stupid but i'd kinda like to see how it would be if it happened.
I’d be down for that. The whole water thing would have to be squared. Maybe new aliens who have some other, yet unknown vulnerability.

shareYeah i love sequels to older movies where the cast returns and kids from the original are grown up and we get to see where their life's are currently at and what they're up to.
As i said they even kinda set up the possibility of a sequel with Morgan saying if the aliens was defeated they'd come back eventually to try again.
I don't think it lends itself that well to a sequel. The alien invasion was used as a vehicle in the movie to help a preacher rediscover his faith by saving his family from them. That was the main point of it. It was never about saving humankind from the bad aliens, like in your typical action sci-fi. It should remain a standalone film.
However, it was a nice and effective idea to me having a slow build-up to an alien invasion from the point of view of an out of town farmer and his family, along with the crop circles (something surprisingly unexplored on film). I wouldn't mind seeing something similar again.
Yeah i know thats why i said it may be stupid, but selfishly i'd just like to see one cause i loved the characters and think it would be cool to come back to them years later and just have the aliens return.
They did a sequel to Independence Day years later, granted that was horrible but if it had better writers and was done by talented people, had Will Smith back in it, it could have worked.
