What if Lana Or Chloe Found Out Clark's Secret In His Superman Years?

In some alternate timeline where Lana stayed in Paris and Clark disappeared for years, would it be worse in those years than as a teen? would their reactions be more heart breaking?

reply

I think Lana would be leading a totally different life, completely free of Smallville connections. I don't think Chloe could've become who she became without knowing about Clark's secret, so she would've become a reporter, and helped protect his secret that way.

reply

Lana would be like a business woman like a nicer Juno Skinner or fashion person like TAS, could see her being a mother like Superman. Meeting Clark again at a school reunion or see him across the street, surprised to hear him in Metropolis after so many years. imagine her feeling betrayed and missed out on his Superman adventures.

How would Chloe not know Clark was Superman?

reply

I imagine Lana would become an actress, maybe I've always gotten the vibe from the show that she would move onto bigger things if she left Smallville. Idk how Chloe would not know he was Superman, you posed that question - how come no one from Smallville recognizes he's Superman now? But if she learned later, she would still help him is my guess, after getting over the initial shock and hurt of being kept in the dark for so long.

reply

Don't know being an actress would tie in with her studying art in Paris, she could wind up a failure and return home to Clark has left for some time after she left.

Even in the 78 Movie young Clark was not played by Christopher Reeve, Smallville couldn't do that because Tom Welling was a 25 year playing a 15 year old when the show started, in actuality Clark would be a scrawny teenager and do a time lapse transition from teenage to adult Clark growing taller and beefier in an Arise Rodimus Prime like moment.

Imagine they having feeling abandoned if he disappeared for years without saying goodbye like many films and TV shows where someone disappears for years and then return.

reply

Her art thing never really turned into anything though, did it? She never ended up working for a museum or becoming a curator or sculptor, that art storyline was pretty throwaway and never made sense to begin with because she never expressed an affinity for art in the series before then, they just wanted her in Paris. It would make more sense if she was discovered and moved into modelling and then acting, it seems like it would suit her and it feels like something that would happen in the comics.

reply

They never had a clear arc for her, she was like a secondary or tertiary character who they tried to make as one of the show's stars. Models tend to be 5 foot 9 or 6 foot where KK is like 5 foot 2, film or stage actress?.

Superman & Lois have a better post high school life for her where she's a mother and in a rocky marriage.

reply

They would have little in common as adults if they now live different lives.

How would Lana react to seeing Superman?

reply

Idk but I never thought they had too much in common as teens either. If Clark had been an ordinary teen, they never would've dated, not sure if Clark would even have been interested in her to begin with because imo he was only ever interested in her because she represented the peak of normalcy he could never reach as an alien adoptee. But if they did, they likely would've drifted apart during college separated later on in life anyway.

I think she'd feel betrayed, much like Lex, that he lied and veer on the side of angry and indignant rather than hurt but understanding. She was all about him being honest with her about every little thing all throughout the early seasons.

reply

Would she be skeptical of Superman? especially see Zod's minions and meteor freaks.

Definitely would feel betrayed when he changes in front of her or takes off his glasses and floats, probably feel more betrayed that he's found someone else.

Framing a girl as your one and only hope of normalcy paves the way for a massive disappointment, so best to replace that by creating a soulmate by months or years of learning about them.

reply

What he did with Lana was childish because he was a child who saw with a child's eyes and perceived the world with a child's idealism. Once he became an adult and saw things more realistically, that's when the fantasy of who Lana as opposed to what she represented would have likely fallen away - had they not had her infected with kryptonite, of course, so they could preserve the fantasy that Lana would've been "the one".

reply

The whole idea of Lana being infected with kryptonite came about because KK was off doing a Street Fighter movie during S7 so she came back for S8 because she had five episode left on her contract.

They couldn't do the traditional Clark leaving Smallville and Lana behind because SV was a long running TV show.

reply

I understand why she did the movie, but given how terrible it was, I think not doing it would've been a better choice lol. Also, time jumps happen all the time, so I don't see why they couldn't have just done that. But Lana and Clark's relationship had expired long before then, so while how they ended things sucked, I'm glad they finally did it.

reply

Nobody talks about her Street Fighter movie and was done during the writer's strike. I was very glad when she left, everyone missed Lex but not Lana, by season 9 everyone had forgotten about her. They had a high school era relationship that lasted another three years, even Superman 3 and Superman & Lois have better a post high school life for her where she's a mother, a better way to end their romance is for a Clark to disappear for several years travelling the world saving people and comes back home to find she's moved on.

reply

If she had stayed gone, I would've been happy because Lana outwore her lace on the series, but if she hadn't left, maybe she could've left later in a better way.

They'll feel awkward around each other, thinking one abandoned the other, be angry that she missed out on his Superman adventures, he went with Lois and not her.

Before telling her his secret how would Lana react to Superman? would it be like meeting a big superstar or be skeptical due to her experiences with meteor rocks and aliens?

reply

Imagine Superman mentioning he came to Earth in the meteor shower by mistake in an interview, have Lana read it.

reply

She'd probably become a villain and turn against him. It would've worked better imo if that happened anyway.

reply

Becoming a villain or emotional upset, imagine the DP trying to put a positive spin on it saying the tradegy made him a hero.

Lex wouldn't be too pleased to hear it.

reply

Sorry, what do you mean? That the meteor shower made Clark a hero?

reply

He does feel guilt over the meteor shower killing and infecting people.

reply

Yeah he does. I agree.

Would she feel more betrayed that he went with Lois and shared his secret with Lois over her?

Before that would Clark be heartbroken to see Lana has moved on with her life during his travels when he comes back home?

reply

Tbh honest, I don't think Lois being privy to the secret would matter, it's not about whatever other person is involved - it's about herself being excluded and feeling left out. Tying all the way back into her feelings of abandonment when her parents died.

reply

Would pick a bad time to tell her after many years. He probably thought leaving for years, traveling from place to place would protect her but caused her more grief. She be acting all those old girlfriends you see in movies and TV shows where a character has been away for so long and when they come back they're not so pleased to see them.

reply

Imagine awkwardly meeting each other again at a high school reunion or seeing him across the street in Smallville or Metropolis.

reply

Lana would probably feel bitter about missing out on being Mrs Superman, thinking her whole life could've been different, wouldn't have been dating bad guys the whole time.
