Kind of hard to have the will they/won't they? trope work with Clana at all

When we all know he ends up with Lois, everyone knows Lois Lane is Superman's love interest, when that's such a commonplace in pop culture once again makes Lana's stay over welcomed because it's no surprise he doesn't end up with her, so knowing their fates takes you out of the experience of watching them.

Which is a problem with prequels knowing the the character's fates, it's like knowing Captain Kirk is gonna be captain of the Enterprise after Captain Pike.

It was the same issue with "Gotham" we know there will be a Batman, we wanted Batman!

It did take them a few seasons to get to Lois though, I think the issue was that the actress they chose for Lois or the way they wrote her wasn't really what we expected either.

The only reason Lois was in the show in the first place when it's before he's Superman was due to fan service and foreshadowing.

One of those cases if a TV show progresses through three, four or five seasons you may wanna change it up especially if it's a prequel otherwise audiences are gonna think "Oh seen all this".

If your gonna do a long running TV show that's a prequel you may wanna do for a short amount of seasons like for or five like Bates Motel and Gotham.

I never had a problem with that. I feel I can shut my mind off to 'what happens in the future'. It was nice seeing a love interest other than Lois. The biggest problem with the show was not changing over once they got out of high school. Very rare that characters like these all stay together passed college; especially when they all have so many different dreams and goals. If they're all lazy couch sitters, yea, but not people who go 'seeing the world' or wanting to join a news paper or do football. Once the show started spending 90% of their time in Metropolis, they really should have looked at taking a break and changing the show to a new chapter and name change. Just my thoughts on it.

Once he was out of high school he would have to be working for a Smallville Gazette or if it had just been four seasons train at the fortress but the dragged the same formula though seasons 5-7, seasons 8-10 could've been the best seasons since high school because they change the format.

Think they thought once Lana was no longer the love of his life the show was over but that didn't turn out to be the case when she left after season 7 it took a different direction, if she only been a three season love interest the show's trajectory could've been different.

The only reason Lois was in the show in the first place was due to fan service and the reason they got together before he becomes Superman because Lana was gone from the show.

I think the uber fan service definitely hurt this show. A couple nods here and there were fun but once they started binging in all the Superman characters in before their time it got really annoying and boring. There was no reason to Bring Lois in. They could have brought in any number of girls for Clark to have relationships with. Hell, he didn't have to have a relationship with anyone but this was a teen show so they needed the spicy scenes. Bringing in Supergirl, Doomsday, the Justice League and all that nonsense was just rough for me. The show went from being an alternate/different take on the Superman myth to stuffing itself into a small contained box of comic book references.

Lois was meant to be a four episode guest character but she was proven to be a success, if you think about it perhaps Clark should've had unrequited feelings for Lois since Erica Durance is one of the most beautiful women ever.

Also how many secret rescues was Clark gonna put off until people start pointing fingers, in season one a crooked cop and a reporter were on to him, in season eight he was finally caught on camera which probably should've happened ages ago.

All of the time of Clark refusing to tell Lana his secret should've resulted in her violating his privacy by spying on him or after learning his secret after marrying Lex should've been her really annoyed, cutting him out of her life, blaming him for everything bad that ever happened to her.

Unless they went the DCEU route of Lois knowing his secret before he's Superman, which they did in season 10. Lois was intended a four episode guest character but became a major character on the show due to fan demand.

If Clana lasted three seasons, if they weren't constraint to what they could do with Lois until season 8 the show's trajectory could've been.

They couldn't have Clark train at the fortress for years because that would end the show or have him travel across America saving people because they couldn't afford it and was call Smallville.

If Clark told Lana his secret sooner, if he wasn't so worried about her safety or not into the idea she was his destiny the show's trajectory could've been different.

Wonder if they did the Blur stuff after high school, sightings of a guardian angel with super speed and leap tall buildings because many secret rescues was Clark gonna pull until people start pointing fingers.
