Shot in the (mostly) dark: a lot of what she did was based on the games she was playing with Spader's character. Doing things like making spelling errors or putting bugs places was a way to "act out" and conjure up the BDSM punishments. This is kind of important for BDSM relationships, too, because the masochist/submissive partner is in control more than it might appear.
It also might have just been a way to be "dirty"...? I can't get further than that without a little more context.
