Pretty women can't be funny? What??

I really hope this was just a silly stereotype that the filmmakers were playing on. But I took four years of college and I met ALL kinds of people, and most of the pretty and attractive girls I knew actually were very nice, smart and funny. So that stereotype is pretty much bulls**t as far as I'm concerned. And really, it truly doesn't matter what gender you are or what you look like, any living breathing human being on this planet is very much capable of having good personality traits including being funny.

This movie HAD to be conceived by an ugly woman. The notion that pretty women are awful people, hideous women all have beautiful souls, and if a man dares to be attracted to a beautiful woman it means he's a shallow jerk?

Amy: I swear to God...I swear to God! That is NOT how you treat your human!

Mauricio was making an obvious generalization whose underlying point was valid. Someone else on this board mentioned this, that pretty women are almost always accepted into social circles just based on their looks and therefore have less of a need to attain positive personality characteristics, like having a sense of humor. That's not to say that all pretty women are not funny, they just don't need to be funny to get by. On the other hand, less attractive women need something to make them more desirable, i.e. a sense of humor.

That's all true. And pretty people grow up with that situation, and don't need to try as hard to be accepted or admired. It becomes ingrained in them to expect that.

it's like when people say "guys go for the girls with the thin body and the big chest"
is that a stereotype? yes
does it happen in real life? of course it does.
being a stereotype doesnt automatically make it a lie, it just means that not every woman or every guy are like that (like what the stereotype says) But a lot of them DO fall on the stereotype,
why do you think stereotypes are born to begin with???

To add, for example, I find Avril Lavigne, whom I think has a pretty face with or without that eyeliner, to be funny at times as well as good singer whose songs don't get old I think.

Women who focus on their looks and are stuck up have absolutely no personality. All of their energy is focused on how they look that they have no time for much else: to be smart, or interesting, or witty, or really anything. Can't tell you how many snotty, stuck up women I've met who had the personality of a wet mop. They're the most boring people alive. The same thing goes for men, too. I've met men that had the same issue....they were hot af but boring as hell.

This is something that female comedians say a lot, they say that straight men freak out when they meet a funny woman, they get so afraid that she'll laugh at him or get others to laugh at him that they're repelled by a sense of humor in a woman.

I don't know how true that is, since comedians tend to be messes in real life, regardless of sex or other personal factors, perhaps there are other reasons these straight men are running away from female comedians.
