Why would she do that to Edward?

Was this just a whim of lust that Connie was after? There was no strife in her marriage. Was this just a woman who fell in love/lust with this sympathetic man, who attended to her needs? What does this say about women, in general? Do guys do this, too? A seemingly good marriage, with a nice comraderie between husband and wife, and it gets interrupted by the wife running astray into the arms and bed of a total stranger. For what? The thrill? If i were Edward, i woulda asked her point blank. It is a very good movie, with good acting. It is also very disturbing.

The movie is a bit hightenend, but not really an exaggeration... Edward should have been asking himself questions long before this!

People can become complacent in their marraiges... Once you get older, in your 30s onwards, you'll notice this among your friends and acquaintaces... Some lose the emotional intimacy, others lose physical intimacy as well...

I'm single, but I see this a lot...

I'm not talking about the usual complaint of a bored wife who isn't getting enough sex, or who never loved her husband to begin with, because they were more like friends, he is gay, etc... Not that stuff, which should be fairly obvious and straightforward to avoid (but people don't); But rather as in the film the husbands are good looking, successful and sexually active... But the relationship lacks an emotional intimacy. They don't connect with one another anymore. Women tell me that their husbands don't really talk to them, they don't share their desires, their insecurities and such with one another...

They don't feel desired apart from physically... There is no excitment of sharing new experiences with one another...

One couple I know exemplifies this very well... The wife has been pestering her husband to travel together, without the kids, for a couple of years... They vacation once or twice a year with the children... But what she wants is at least a weekend away together, without the children... She also suggests going out together, dancing, partying... They only go out to fancy dinners with other couples.

It's obvious she wants them to enjoy their youth together as they grow into middle age, she's trying to hold on to their intimacy, but he seems oblivious to what he is risking. How much it matters to her.

The last time I spoke with her she told me, "... 'but' he still makes me laugh"... the implication being that that's what they've been reduced to. Good roommates who sleep with one another. Not lovers.

She'll stray once she runs into a "Paul" type...
