why is it called legally blonde?

is it a pun? is it supposed to sound like something else? is it a thing? what

reply

Well...probably 'cause she's blonde and not...brunette..or a redhead..but that's just me.

A ship sank at the end of the movie Titanic!

It's obviously a pun on the term "legally blind." Good god people

The world looks to Sweden. 

I can't believe no one else has said this. To be blind is to be handicapped. It's a pun because she is handicapped by being "blonde". Not her hair color, but her goals in life. She's handicapped because she's only interested in her outward appearance. She's never cared about her brain or helping others. Also, other people only judge her because she's pretty, perky, blonde. They underestimate her just like she has always underestimated herself. She doesn't need to be smart, she's pretty!!! That's why her friendship with Paulette is so important. Elle learns to judge Paulette on personality, not for her prettiness score. Elle learns to judge Warner for his personality and character too, not because he'd make a good trophy husband.

She's handicapped by boxing herself in with other people's expectations.
