It's been a while, but FilmSpeak is BACK with another James Bond analysis breaking down what many consider to be the worst James Bond movie. While Die Another Day certainly doesn't reach the heights of a Casino Royale, Skyfall, or On Her Majesty's Secret Service, it definitely has more to offer from a pure enjoyment standpoint than many give it credit for. Let's not fool anyone, Die Another Day is absurd, Die Another Day is DUMB, Die Another Day is one of the worst Bond movies, but perhaps as we make our way through the invisible cars, ice palaces, Madonna songs, and over the top fencing duels, maybe, just maybe, we can learn to love one of the worst James Bond movies. Maybe, we can give director Lee Tamahori credit where it's due and come to terms with the creative decisions he made, because whether or not they worked as well as he would've hoped, at least they were his decisions as an artist and we have to respect that. Hopefully, in learning to love Die Another Day, it can help us come to terms with the Bond films we don't like, disagree with, and come out on the other side not only with a better understanding but with the ability to enjoy them for what they are.
