One of the worst comedies I've ever seen.

I love movies, and I especially love comedy. I love a good smart comedy like The Birdcage as much as I love Dumb and Dumber. My favorite movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off. But this movie...

The first time I saw it, my friend invited me over to watch it. I had to sit there and pretend to laugh. It was like... painful. I felt I had to laugh at it because my friend thought it was so funny. I couldn't just walk out and say "This sucks, man."

So my opinion of this movie may just stem from a painful first experience. Maybe it's funny when you watch it with like six of your buddies.

But I can't believe the dude's making a sequel... guess he has a good fan base. ::Shrug::

man do u have a bad sense of humor if u say this movie sucks what i want to see is you making your own movie and let me see your horrible comedy skills why am i even telling you off you havnt logged on since 2005

Everyone is different and thats a damn good thing. Why do people always want everone to see things their own way?. Its all about diversity people! Myself? I freakin' loved this movie to no end. It put a huge grin on my face and made me laugh out loud a hell of a lot. To me a movie (and life for that matter) is about the experience, and this movie really was a kick ass experience! If you didn't like this movie at all, good for you! If you loved this movie, good for you!

It is just subjective when it comes to movies like this. Personally I thought it was terrible, but I dont breath through my mouth more than my nose, and I dont think the Scary Movie series is that funny. Also a 5.2 on imdb is actually pretty damn bad. You have to ake into consideration that the majority of people who post and vote for bad movies like them because if they didnt they wouldnt even bother looking at it. It has an 8% freshness rating on rotten tomatoes with 4 out of 50 reviewers finding it worthy of a good review. Also I know how some of you guys are when it comes to critics, but hey, they can save you time and money when it comes to going to see movies, renting them, and buying them.(god if you bought this movie.....)

Didnt think you could make as lame movies as this one, thought it was impossible and to be honest id rather watch the tv when its off for 1 hour and 20 minutes. This movie was so bad that giving it a 1 out of 5 is a grade it doesnt deserve. 0/5 stars !!

People who hate this movie may be entitled to their opinions, but this movie, was genius. So for all you Mencia lovers that hated it, LEAVE

As the Comment line says: You either love it or hate it -- and I loved it!!!!

AMEN

Loved it, but can see why people hate it.

The only good thing I found out about this movie was that there was NO sequel in the making.
I even wrote a letter to Mr Steve telling him that it was the cheapest comedy stab at Kung Fu movies I've ever seen & maybe he should have watched 'Kentucky Fried Movie' first.
Its so easy to rip piss out of the dubbing or parady fight sequences. An 8 year old could do it.
To his credit he did reply, or an associate replied with just the lines
'Thank you for your letter but that's just your opinion man'

Anybody who wishes to challenge my statement that Mr Steve is a cock need only to have a reply like THAT through the post!!

Kung Pow is hilarious.

I still cant help but laugh when I hear "Bird! Birdie... birdie... birdie!!" The movie in general still brings a smile to my face, even after watching it so many times. This is one of those movies where I can just throw on when im bored on the weekend or something. I can see why people hate it, but its such a damn good movie.

!!!!!!!!!! There are people who actually liked this "movie"? When I found it in the site I expected that it would have a rating of about 2 or 3. But some people voted for 10!!!! This is neither Monty Python nor Mel Brooks kind of humour. It is a worthless ripoff of their films, with no humour at all and perhaps the only film which can reduce your IQ just by watching it. I'm terribly sorry, I always try to be objective on some people's preferences but it seems that someone has brainwashed you! I wish I could give it a 0.

"It is a worthless ripoff of other films, with no humour at all" some people like to say. It's a funny thing, when someone laughs at something you think is boring you say they don't have a sense of humor. But what they have is a more sensitive sense of humor, capable of sniffing out fun in a wider spectrum than you. It's hard not to look down on someone whose sense of humor stops him from enjoying something.

Maybe you're hostile because you sense they're superior? It's natural for animals to hate that which stands above them in the food chain. But we're people, we should be able to do better.

Me, I can find fun in almost anything, including this movie. My taste is unrefined. I think I'm better off that way.

"Kung Pow..." is an Asian movie with an irreverant English re-dub, like "What's up Tiger Lilly?" It includes original scenes of the "star" spliced in, like "Dead Men Don't wear Plaid." In other words, it's a novelty picutre without a shred of novelty.

its all right guys. theres a least one in every board.

reply

Sleazy Woody Allen fans, stay away from this board!! This movie wasn't made for you. It was made for people who can understand that this movie is pure stupid genius!

It's strange how some people consider themselves to serious to laugh at things that were made just for that reason: laugh at them. Those people who bash on this movie probably prefer comedies that take themselves seriously, just like they themselves do. Like a friend of mine who didn't like The 40 Year Old Virgin and told me to rent and watch American Pie: Band Camp. Now, that was a really lame movie. And a movie that could be enjoyed only by 5 year olds in my opinion. But for some reason it took itself seriously and made others who also think like that like it... Well, the only think I can say is...

THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and Master Betty will rule the world. Red clothes!

reply

I know so many people that hate this movie, but I think it's one of the funniest movies I've seen. And one thing I HATE is when people compare Kung Pow to Kung Fu Hustle and say that Kung Fu Hustle is a lot funnier than Kung Pow. Kung Fu Hustle isn't funny! I laughed at one or two parts but I got so annoyed by it that I turned it off half way through.

reply

Well, I actually enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, but you can't compare the two films. Kung Fu Hustle at least tries to be serious at times and, correct me if I'm wrong, an actual Asian movie, not a strictly slapstick American remake comedy.

People who defend this film compare it to Mel Brooks, Monty Python, Naked Gun, Hot Shots, and other such films. To me it is reminicent of the Scary Movies and others of that sort, taking a film, or several, or even an entire genre, and ripping it apart. This film, though it looks like crap, WAS geniusly put together. It just had a low budget. But what I find is so funny about it is the sheer randomness of the film. For instance, I think it's a scanning shot of the outside of the temple, there is a little CG animal. What is that thing?! Nobody knows. But the fact that it is there, having nothing to do with the film, . . . that's just funny to me. Or how about the Hooters restuarant in the town where Master Betty shows of his skills? Little, random, stupid things such as these that nobody really notices the first time they watch are the reason this movie is funny.

reply

I agree with uhtreduhtredson, you cannot compare Kung Fu Hustle (you of my favorite movies) with Kung Pow.
They are different genres of comedy.
Oh and if you hate the movie, just write a comment about it. Don't take it to these forums, as they are supposed to be the fan forums.

Kung Fu Hustle is:

Quentin Tarentino (SP?) & Bugs Bunny

While Kung Pow is:

Bugs Bunny & Retards in a room full of monkies

2 WAY SIFFERENT GENRES OF COMEDIES

Although these 2 movies and Kung Phooey are my top 3 favorites, but please note the distinction

Kung Pow is the the greatest movie ever, made by God himself!!!!
