Hey million dollar baby's only just coming out over here in the UK. i was wondering if any of you 'girlfight' fans had seen it and had any opinion on wether its a hollywood rip off or worth seeing. I loved girlfight so i'm sceptical about this 'million dollar baby'

How many movies have been made by male boxers? A few... and I haven't read anything about them being a rip off.
Now all of a sudden 2 movies come out about a female boxer and one's ripping the other.
Just watch both movies, enjoy them for what they are, and that's that. If u consider one to be a rip off, that's your opinion, but half these people who are posting about it being a rip off probably didnt see both movies.

oh PUH-LEASE!!! million dollar baby was a direct rip-off of girlfight! i was amazed at how many similarities these 2 films had!!! the only reason that MDB was awarded and got nominated for so many oscars was because the 3 leading characters...were...guess what...3 previous oscar winners/nominees!!! and the director was...yep...good ol' dirty harry!!! (...also, a higher budget than girlfight) but, if you put these 2 films to be judged on the script itself, girlfight would win by far. MDB was overwritten, and started to get a bit annoying at times. 3 hours was way too long. they should've ended it when she broke her kneck on the stool in the ring. i started to drift off towards the last hour. Girlfight had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. the whole thing was powerful. the first kiss between michelle and santiago...that had me in awe...girlfight all the way!

Raging Bull and Million Dollar Baby are absolute masterpieces; Girlfight is not.
shareI cant say that MDB is a ripoff of Girlfight but I definatly think that Girlfight made it there first. I have a thread like this going in the MDB boards. MDB is crap, the story is completely unbelievable
"MDB was based on a book that was released way before Girlfight. Discussion does not end just because you pipe up with a statement without even doing any background research and get it all wrong."
maybe clint saw this movie, and then decided to make his own movie about a female boxer by using the book that mdb is based on. :)
either way, the only one who could answer that would be clint, and even then there's no guarantee that he would tell the truth.
