Why doesn't TNT make miniseries like this anymore?

TNT used to be a great network for Westerns and historical dramas in the '90s to the early '00s. Usually multiple movies a year. But now they only occasionally make shows like The Company, which has significantly poorer production value.

There was a huge wave of WWII movies that came out on multiple TV networks following the success of Saving Private Ryan, and this was one of them. Other's included Band of Brothers, Conspiracy, and The Gathering Storm on HBO, Uprising on NBC, Haven and Hitler: The Rise of Evil on CBS (which oddly has never been released on video), and the Anne Frank miniseries on ABC.

If you read Martin Scorsese's Op-Ed letter to Hollywood released last week it touches on the very topic you bring up here.
