Words are not reason to hit anyone in the face (or anywhere else), no matter if male or female. That's just lame and a sign for being a dumb prick who can't argue with words and also can't control his anger. If someone would attack me physically, though, that would be a completely different thing. In that case female or male alike should prepare for some echo.

I'm glad others have raised the equality issue, if in jest in many cases.

Many men who argue vociferously in favour of equality for men and women will quickly decry hitting a woman, the inferrence being that hitting men is alright, at least compared to that. That, put simply, is a form of sexism.

If you're against violence of all sorts against whom ever, that's fine, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I haven't ever hit a woman (I'm 25), but that's more because I'm afraid of the recriminations than because of moral grounds. On the other hand, I punched another guy as recently as last weekend*.

* It was on the football/soccer pitch, which makes it alright of course.

Women want to be seen as equal to men in Modern Times. Well to say they should not be hit by males cause they are women would go against what the women's movement strived for:equality. So I when the time comes i'd gladly prove them my equal with my fist. If you wanna act like a man you must accept being treated like one

I dunno, Sarah Silverman was a crazy bitch who needed to be shot with a tranq gun, but the guys started it by lolling around on her boyfriend's car and setting off the alarm and generally being obnoxious.

There is never a reason to hit a woman in the face unless your life is in imminent danger. They are the weaker gender, that cannot be argued. The female form is also a beautiful thing, a work of art, not like the utilitarian bodies of men. I dont like violence against women, it sickens me and is usually a sign of weakness. However, in this film, the violence against Silverman is warranted onnly because of the situation. They were going to get their asses kicked no matter what, and Silverman was largely responsible for this happening. She deserved it all, but it is still almost always wrong to hit a woman, unless you are one. But with that said, it is the greatest opening to a movie Ive ever seen and I enjoy it thoroughly.

Funny thing is my wife and I had a convo about this because of a Sean Connery interview with Barbara Walters where he said it's okay to slap a woman - if the situation calls for it. I agree. I DONT advocate violence towards anyone.

We are supposed to be civilized as a people but yet we are still animals. We just speak. I myself have never punched a woman like Parker and Longbauh.

I did have an ex - girlfriend that used to hit and scratch me in the face whenever she lost her temper. I'm a bad *beep* in a fight, wasnt even used to that *beep* yet and still she kept fighting me. She hit me one time and I felt my fist ball up but instead I slapped the hell outta her - GODDAMNIT SHE DESERVED IT.

Funny thing is, she said she respected me as a man after that. No more fights. We even had make-up sex. Still had to dump her.

Sexy ass but crazy bitch. What a waste.
