Okay, the scene where Gabriel shoots at Tavington from about 20 feet away has always bothered me. This is where I stop the movie now, because it's complete BS and I just can't watch the rest of the show.

He had Tavington at a huge disadvantage and would not have missed the shot at that range. It's impossible for Tavington to fake getting shot -- just no way. Gabriel would have seen the entry wound prior to Tavington falling to the ground. And Gabriel should have had more common sense -- reload and shoot the body from a distance, dummy. Then go poke the body with a sword a few times. The fact that Tavington goes from face-down and prone to a stabbing attack is probably the worst set-up I've ever seen in a movie. I saw it coming from a mile away and it completely ruins the movie. This unlikely kill by Tavington is simply used to piss off the audience even more. He kills Gabriel and burns up his wife, thus wasting two characters that viewers really liked. And it's simply done to make his death at Mel's hands sweeter. But it really doesn't work for me.

It would have been better to have Tavington get away and Benjamin Martin (Mel) and Gabriel face him down together in the final battle. And they should have kept Gabriel's wife alive too. It's just bad writing and a terrible production. The movie could have done so much better. What a waste...

That's where I stopped reading your post. In my opinion somebody who actually admits to not watching an entire movie should be banned from commenting on it!

So it's a terrible production because a couple of your besties were killed off. Gee, I really feel your pain. 🐭

"It's just bad writing and a terrible production."

Lol. It was a ballsy move and added a whole other layer of depth to the story and Martin/Tavingtons rivalry. Please go. Your alternative is just fairy tale like honestly, not that some parts of this movie weren't a huge stretch.

I had a real problem with the entire war coming down to a conflict with two men. It was just incredibly cliched and stupid.

it completely ruins the movie.

The movie ruined itself long before that scene my dear.
