As a whole the orginal is much better in my opinion. The last act ruins this one completely.

I love the original! Nora was annoying though.

of course the original was better,, but this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be,, I think it was good that they didn't follow up totally with the original,,, this way this one won't be called a rip off.

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

I love both versions for very different reasons but I do find it ignorant to say older horror isn't as effective as new. The Invisible Man is STILL one of the most disturbingly creepy horror films ever committed to film that begs to be seen. Old, new... If a horror film is good, age has no bearing :-)

I just saw the original 1959 film last night for the first time.... I think... anyway. Despite hiring the actress for Nora for her screaming alone... I thought she was pretty good. And at times she showed remarkable resolve compared to many of the "damsels in distress" of the times. Thing is my wife and were watching it... the wife was screaming at the skeleton... I even said, "ha ha! That skeleton is a bit short for Vincent Price!" And my wife saw the strings... and then the reveal... we were SUPPOSED to see the strings! For an old classic I thought it wasn't too bad. (we didn't learn much about THOSE people either). Nor if any of them survived the night (which I'm sure they did considering it was ALL fake!) Though the whole blood dripping from the ceiling was obviously fake, but then... the question is how did they do it... with everyone standing around the lady it dripped on. And that older woman... just was as gruff as a bulldog...

Tired of people telling me how young I am when I feel so old...

I'm a big fan of old classic movies, like All Quiet On the Western Front, King Kong, Nosferatu, Godzilla, and Phantom Of The Opera. I just think it one of those movies where the remake is better than the original for example the movie Night Of The Living Dead. House On Haunted Hill is one of those movies where the remake surpassing the original.

I certainly don't think the Night of the Living Dead remake was better than the original. In being first you get to experience the fearful immersiveness and plot surprises that a remake cannot match. In any case, I didn't like the remake's attempt to make the starring female as strong as the male. I think a single strong lead was needed to make us aware of how necessary it was to keep everybody from falling apart. That characterization was missing from the remake.
