WHY THE HELL DID HE PICK UP THE PHONE
I WONDER
You cheesy lot of second hand electric donkey-bottom biters!

Maybe it was playing on the fact that sometimes when you hang up a corded phone, it will ring because it didn't break the connection, so you have to pick it up and hang up again. It could have been him thinking she called back or might still be on the line, I dunno. Just something I've always thought about during that scene.

Since seeing this movie fully, knowing it's in 2002, and now it's 2016: are there still pay phones around? Also, why wasn't there a sequel? I wouldn't answer a phone, and I doubt some would even answer a phone these days unless it's someone in their contacts and they left a message.

I would have answered just to see who's calling a phone booth.
