Alan Ball's writing

This is very similar to six feet under. where there are complete elements where it is like a dark slapstick comedy at times. where you are laughing your head off. then 5 mins late we then have a very dark and serious moment.

I can't think of any other writers that are so unbalanced like this (I have no issues with it it's just so unique) It really gets you thinking what am I watching here a comedy or a very dark and bleak sad drama? He is great at mixing in death and life. and I think this movie brought his ideas to six feet under.

ignore True blood. sadly that went off the rails the last 2 seasons. and that 1 season flop he had last year.

I think he needs to go back to this kind of writing, something that will have you laughing your head off and 5 mins later crying.

He wrote and directed a film last year called "Uncle Frank" that's a comedy and drama. I haven't seen it, but maybe it's similar to his writing style.
