Daily Double Questions

Is it just me that believes Daily Double questions are usually either super easy or super hard? No wonder so many don't bet that much on them although the easy questions seem to be just as common as the hard ones.

Well, I was always led to believe that the degree of difficulty for the DD was based on whatever dollar amount it was hidden behind. (Which is why we hardly ever see them in the top row.)

To be honest though, I think sometimes the $1000 answer is just as easy as the $200. Last night's (7/27/16) Baseball category could've been run by most Little League kids.

I too have noticed it. And ,too often some of the questions in the second round seem way too easy, more like first round questions.

My issue with DD questions is that they aren't technically. I know a contestant can double his money by betting everything, but it's not a true double. Hear me out..

If I hit daily double, I don't have the option to pass on the question. I must either know the answer or guess. Therefore, since I can only win what I bet and since I will be forced to bet an amount before I hear the question and have no option to pass, I'd bet $10. The only benefit to the DD is that the contestant gets a bit more time to answer (not trying to beat the others to the buzzer). Now if I was able to double my bet amount, I'd be inclined to bet more.

IMO, the DD should be configured so that whatever the dollar amount the DD question is found at should be doubled. If the question is answered incorrectly, then the loss is the face value. Guess correctly, and win double the amount. Alternatively, it can mean the contestant can bet an amount he wants but still win double that amount. Either option would be an improvement.

Make it a true daily double.
