Aidan's money

While re-watching SATC i realised Aidan seems to be VERY financially secure. He owns his own apartment plus his country home, he would be paying rent and overheads where he displays his furniture, he mentions selling his apartment and then buys both Carrie's and the one next door, he later goes in on the bar with Steve. Pretty cashed up for a one-man furniture designer! I saw nothing that indicates he 'comes from money' either.

reply

He must make a lot of money, but he could possibly come from money. We briefly see his parents when Carrie chickens out from meeting them. They could have money for all we know. It's not like all people with rich backgrounds act like Trey and Charlotte. But I think he's more likely a self made man. I wonder how much that furniture sells for!

reply

True! I just saw on the trivia section that the chair Carrie buys was $3800. He wouldn't need to sell more than one item a week to keep him in good financial stead. Heck, a whole dining suite could set him up for a year!

reply

That was a lot of money to put out for a chair that she really didn't want. This happened before she started considering her finances, but how in the world did she mange to afford the chair?

reply

Do you bitch around all over Imdb or ... ?

reply

Yeah I figured any hand crafted furniture is going to be pricier than other options and if you have a good location, there are a lot of rich people in Manhattan to appeal to. Aidan just seems so the opposite of most Manhattanites but I guess hand-crafted $3800 chairs maybe don't sell as well in upstate NY.

reply

Or mabey he just spends his money wisely and not blowing it on meaningless stuff. That's probably how he's able to afford these nice things.

reply

So how are nice things meaningful things?

you are snide and obnoxious in most of your replied post. and I thought I didn't have a life

reply

Don't worry, you don't. I'm asking for clarification on what that poster met, which is what message boards are for, but following me around to every thread IS humorous but I'm going to put you on ignore since you don't seem to be able to contribute to a conversation.

Despite the fact that it is indeed true that she is snide and obnoxious, you are no better considering you opened you account yesterday and have already amassed a negative reputation.

The chair is hugely symbolic. Can't get how people can't see that. She doesn't like that chair at all. The only reason she buys the chair is because she likes him and she wants to have an excuse to talk to him. The chair is much like Aidan - beautiful, solid, well-built, dependable, honest, not pretentious. But it is not Carrie's style. She appreciates the beauty of it but she doesn't actually like it - she just thinks she should like it. She puts it in her house when it doesn't fit there at all. Just like Aidan. Just like that whole relationship. She appreciates who Aidan is but he is not her style at all - just what she thinks she should want.

Well said.

reply

Why are you telling me this as if I posted something that deals with your response?

reply

I would say aidan invested his money wisely.

reply

I think he is self made. He spends his money wisely and seems to like to work with his hands. That has more in likely helped him at least a little.

reply

She was stupid cheating on Aidan with Big.

reply

Was she?

Big was the one she was destined to be with. Aidan was just a stop on the way.
