Åmål-like movies?

*beep* Åmål is one of the most touching movies I've ever seen. I fact, I don't believe any movie ever touched me this much. And when it ended, I wanted more. I want to know if there is anything else like it out there. I know this is a very subjective question, but anyone who's seen *beep* Åmål will understand what kind emotional quality I am seeking.

The only movie I've seen so far that had a similar effect on me was Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind.

I know there are recommendations under each title, but they don't stand for much. I was recommended Cruel Intentions and that doesn't even belong in the same galaxy with *beep* Åmål.

I agree with whoever said My Life as a Dog. That's definitely one of my favorite movies.
If you haven't seen Together, it's another movie by the same director as *bleep* Amal, and I actually preferred it.
Or try The Squid and the Whale. I love that movie.

A few movies that I have found to be moving and special, they're not exactly the same as *beep* Amal (plot wise) but had a similar effect on me:

Ghost World (Another movie about alienation, listlessness and trying to find your place in the world, highly recommended!).
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Lost in Translation
American Beauty (I've seen this mentioned a few times already and it deserves to be).
The Wrestler
Muriel's Wedding
Dancer in the Dark
The Pianist
Little Miss Sunshine
This Is England
Atmen (Breathing)
The Castle
Auf der anderen Seite (The Edge of Heaven)

No one here mentioned Thirteen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328538/
Maybe not many people like it, but it's one of my favourite teen movies.

It's nothing like Show Me Love lol

I am surprised no one has mentioned "Turn Me On, Dammit!"
It dealt with a young teenage girl in a backwater town coming to grips with her raging hormones in that same frank, realistic Nordic style. I loved "Water Lilies", but "Turn Me On, Dammit!" is much much closer to *beep* Åmål" in style. Should be on everyone's must-see list.

I second that! I saw it 2 days ago and it was great! Good recommendation!

How about last year's Cannes winner "Blue is the warmest color"?
Although different, but deals with the same themes.
