What would be Tyler's - who is 'perfect' from the narrator's perspective - motivation for creating someone as dysfunctional, depressed and materialistically addicted and obsessed as the narrator? Hmm?
Also, if THAT were the case, we'd see most of the movie from Brad Pitt's character's perspective, and Narrator's appearance wouldn't enter the movie until the airplane scene.
ANY way you think about this, it just wouldn't work, and the idea was born dead and stupid to begin with.
