How is this movie overrated?

This one of the best film of 90s and people are saying that it's overrated. Can someone please explain to me why this film is terrible to you?

reply

its proof that the youth of today is even more brainwashed than back in 1999. Just a bunch of over sensitive manginas.

reply

Really ? This generation love this movie. It didn't even made any money that time.

reply

Antifa have certainly taken Fight Club cosplay to outrageous levels!

reply

it thinks it's smarter than it is, it's hypocritical, it's over stylized, it has plot holes, etc.

reply

I go nuts over stylized movies. Drive, The Grand Budapest Hotel, 500 Days of Summer, The Departed, I love them. Nothing amplifies a your watching experience more than a little visual style.

reply

Please list the plot holes.

reply

How is it hypocritical? I think the movie is pretty honest actually.

reply

Tyler is hypocritical, but the movie itself is satirical, so that's not a criticism I would direct at the movie as a whole.

Whatever type of very hyped up cult classic it has become, it was a very underrated film when it first came out with gaining very little in the theater and only being nominated for an Oscar in film effects. That said, it is one of the most original movies to ever come out as one of the best 4th wall breaking films ever made. It's dark humor style is completely original as well and is likely why it is such a huge cult classic nowadays along with its defining twist that pretty much started the modern day view of dissociative identity disorder.

David Fincher's best movie to date with Se7en as his second.

This movie is disgustingly overrated. Just a bunch macho pandering nonsense aimed at hyper angry teens. Don't know what there angry about there just angry about something and this movie makes em feel deep.

Fight Club was brilliant. The problem is that pseudo-intellectuals embraced it for the wrong reasons. They actually thought that the gibberish Tyler Durden was spouting was the intellectual part of the movie and embraced it with open arms. They didn't realize that the whole point of the movie was that the Narrator was a complete and total loser who dreamed Tyler up because he was so terrified of having a meaningful relationship with a woman.

Because it's not as smart as its fans think it is, the concept is dumb and irresponsible and the "twist" is laughably ridiculous.

Answer: It's not.
