when Laurie puts John and Molly in the closet

This part of the movie is always so stupid to me. First she puts them in the closet, and tells them to barricade the door. Okay. Um. How much do you expect there to be in the closet to use for barricading? Also, how can the find it, since there was no light on in it? And, that closet door opens outward, so. Overall, not a solid plan. Moments later, she and Will go down the hall and he says he's not leaving without her, and she says she's not leaving without John. Um, then why'd you split yourselves up? Then, after Will's demise, she retrieves them from the closet. Still dark inside and not barricaded.
