Why does Red chase our hero?

Hi everyone, i saw this movie yesterday and enjoyed it very much, it had some good insider-info about trucks and trucking, and it had Swayze Meat Loaf together! What more can i ask!

Anyway, i started watching after the first 15 minutes or so, and i saw that Jack took the ride from Red's place, so why does Red go after him for the cargo? He had it in the first place, why give it away just to risk your life running after it later on? Thanks.

You also got confused here? Me too!!! I have always wondered why Red allowed Jack to drive away if he was going to steal the weapons in the first place, using the same men from the Trucking yard!! To this day I have no clue who Red was talking to on the phone while he was cutting out coupons! It made no sense to send guns to Mr. Cutler and then take them back for another mysterious guy!

reply

Thanks for the response! At least i'm not alone! His motivation's a mystery indeed, but that's Meat Loaf we're talking about, who knows what's on his mind LOL!

reply

Red let him leave in the truck and attempted to get the guns back on the road as he wanted it to appear like a hi-jacking that he wasnt involved in so that the person he was selling em to wouldnt suspect him of having the guns. Its been a while since i saw the movie but that is how i remember it. Not that i am trying to make this movie sound completely logical but hey its good for a laugh and to watch some pretty cool truck chasing.

reply

Doh! Now it makes sense. I must point that by saying sense, i am talking in terms of this movie LOL! Thanks mate.

Red also knew Crews was an ex-con, and they might think he stole the load himself.

reply

because if the cargo was stolen from reds place he would have to explaine to the cops how someone got a truck there and no one herd it getting hooked up th the trailer

Thanks, That is always nice to know that Brian and the rest of the cast of Black Dog have a loyal fan base. The Black Dog Script calls for the bad guy Red, played by Meatloaf to chase down Swayze's character. Meatloaf's character is a sleeze bag who uses extortion tacts on Swayze's character in order to get Swayze's character to drive illegal contraban across country. Swayze's character is finally forced to agree to this venture and goes to the trucking depot run by Meatloaf...aka..(Red)who has Randy Travis's character, Brian Vincent..(Wes) and Ice Cube tag along. Little does recently paroled Swayze's character and Travis's character know but they are running illegal guns across state lines. Swayze's character fearing that he will go back to jail if caught, dumps the guns and word of this get back to Meatloaf's character(Red) who begins a demonish pursuit of the Back Dog group.

Swayze,Travis,Vincent and Ice Cube are forced to drive hell for leather acrossed state line in spectacular, gripping, fast, flying and furious chase scenes persued by the demonish Red, who is seeking retribution on the group for dumping his illegal contriban.

That wasn't Ice Cube. His name is Gabriel Casseus. They do look similar though...

It's unexplanitory how I getz wicked, but it's mandatory that I kick it!

Yes, but all that still doesn't really answer the OP's question, about which I and others on this thread are scratching our collective heads. Namely why does Red give Jack the truck, arms shipment and protection and then promptly start chasing him in an attempt to hijack the truck? There possibly may have been a few words exchanged inferring a disagreement between Cutler and Red. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought it was somewhat bizarre.

reply

Red would do anything for the cargo (but he won't do that)

reply

Okay, this made me laugh far more than I should have.
