Bruce Willis is a 3 generation driller and he still doesn't know it all and he's the best who has drilled through every terrain problem. You can't expect 8 boyscouts to learn what he knows in 8 months time. And he's only the best because of the people he works with.

No....I think they did it right....the guys just had to get used to space and a few mins of high speeds...

But since they're oil drillers...they were able to work through the fact that Starke missed their target landing and put them on an iron plate. The astronauts would've been trained in ideal conditions...there wouldn't have been enough time to get them ready for every possibility...

Besides....they wouldn't have had the guts like AJ did to push through despite the risks...also they probably wouldn't have rebelled like the drillers did. They would've just let the bomb blow early simply because the president of one nation got impatient. The astronauts would've been more trained and loyal to do what they're told...

I think even Ben Affleck thought that something like that would've made more logical sense. But Michael Bay wouldn't allow for petty ideas to get in his way and would shut down anyone who denied him.
