When The Jackal shot the gay guy.

Did anybody else laugh during that scene? I liked how it made it seem that he shot him because the guy knew too much from what he saw on the news, rather than a hate crime. It was sort of random, because they were just watching the news and the picture looked just like Bruce Willis' character and then next thing that happens, Jackal shoots the guy. I thought it was funny for some reason.

All I need is one mic...

There was a (mild) controversy when this came out because supposedly the original cut made it look like he shot the guy cause he was gay. It was changed before release to give it another reason. Maybe Willis had a problem with it and demanded it.

I remember that. Heard he was pretty upset about that.

Willis did have a problem with it. He put up his own money to reshoot the scene so it would not look like he killed him because he was gay.

Bruce is left-handed , so he shot the guy with his left hand.

I personally find this scene hysterical. Willis acts like killing Doug is an afterthought, like: Oh yeah, I forgot, I need to shoot you now. Even funnier is how the actor playing Doug acts out his death. He flails his arms up in the air as if he is waving good-bye to the audience.

Serves him right for ruining the vibe. Why couldn't he just start digging into that delicious Korean food instead of whining about going out?

Hate crime? What are you talking about?

I think he shot the guy because he no longer need him.

He also made sure that the TV was tuned to expose the Jackal's identity so that the gay guy (and the audience) would know it was not a hate crime.

I remember a scene in the Sly Stallone film Nighthawks were the terrorist has to kill the flight stewardess he was shacking with because she found his weapons trunk in the closet.

In the original script it was made clear that the heat for such a high profile crime would require the Jackal to retire and make it so no one could find him again. Jackal was wiping out anyone who could identify him. That's also why he went after Isabella.

I saw it in the theater and indeed the scene drew laughter from some in the crowd.
