Same problem as another movie

This movie has the same problem as 'Men in Tights'.

The audience is ready to laugh, but the movie rarely offers opportunities to do so. There are some 'amusing gags', but not really funny ones. There's some 'entertainment', but not actual humor.

And the little humor there is, is old jokes, stale, unfunny, recycled garbage, that no one over the age of five could possibly find funny enough to laugh, even when intoxicated.

Also, there's a bit of a 'boredom factor' in both movies. They take themselves too seriously, when they should not, and when they should, they don't.

And of course all the romance crap that just HAS to be (for some reason) part of every deity forsaken movie these days, ruins whatever else might still be salvageable otherwise.

You watch it, you WANT to laugh, but you don't end up laughing. The only part, where I laughed in 'Men in Tights', was when Little John was trying to not drown. Robin should've just let him 'not drown' until he realized that he can't. Helping him was really the opposite of helping him - face your fears, and all that.

There are good actors, lots of resources, competent camerawork, etc. etc., but the movies just aren't funny. It's kind of sad how -everything-else- works very well and nicely, but something just doesn't quite 'click'. Neither movie engages the viewer in a way that would feel satisfying, funny or even fun.

For a Mel Brooks-movie, 'Men in Tights' is even a bit too predictable, paint-by-the-numbers, with a few predictable, over-used gags thrown in. Breaking the fourth wall? Boring. Stabbing the sandwitch of a staff member (script supervisor? I can't remember), yawn, you EXPECT this already from Mel Brooks movies.

As far as this movie goes, Matthew Perry is funny in 'Friends' sometimes - but mostly because of writing. Anyone could be funny saying those funny lines. He doesn't say them in particularly unique way, either.

He seems to work very well in this movie, though - but at the same time, this movie proves that he is not 'organically funny', only when the script makes him so.

With the money, resources, talent, equipment, locations, etc. that it took to make these two movies, I am sure they could've made at least one actually funny, good movie.

couldnt disagree more...

Almost Heroes Is One of My All Time Favorite Early Teenage Movies....

When I was in The 7th and 8th grade ...Nearly my entire Class quoted this movie...

I do admit I could be biased as I am and Was A Massive Chris Farley fan....

Among My Group of Friends back then....He was our favorite....

But I LOVED Almost Heroes....I still watch it every few years and Still enjoy it every time.....

This Was Farley's Last Major Movie before his death(He had a cameo in Dirty Work)....But This Was his last work and I treasure it!
