I'm shocked they didn't reshoot the ending after test audience screenings

Surely the test audiences would have said, "that humanoid alien at the end ruined it".

They could have simply reshot it to have the mother alien fight instead.

Maybe the baby is killed causing it to become infuriated.

Up until the end I found it to be a thought provoking movie with some decent action scenes, such as the aliens swimming under water.

Yeah the ending was terrible and pretty much ruined the movie. They could've probably saved the movie by reshooting or re-editing the ending . Just scrapped the entire humanoid xeno altogether and had Ripley face off against the Queen (again) and protecting Call (instead of Newt), ends with the Queen sucked out the ship (not in the disgusting comical way the newborn did)

Yeah that suck hole ending was just sad to watch. Even though its a monster, it couldn't help what it was.
