The Crypt Keeper... so annoying

Am I the only one who hates the Crypt Keeper? He seems to be the only narrator of a horror anthology that is annoying. The Coroner from John Carpenter's Body Bags was a dead man in a morgue who served the same purpose as the Crypt Keeper. Between stories, he landed the pun, but he didn't laugh at his own joke like a loser. The Creep from Creepshow never did anything but stand there and laugh, but he was cool. I don't like the Crypt Keeper, because not only is he not scary, he's also not funny. That makes me wonder what the Crypt Keeper was like before he died. Was he in his 30s at bars telling women puns right before they walked away?

So irritating. He used to scare the sh*t out of me when I was really little, and then I found him hilarious when I was a bit older...and now I'm just like, "Why the hell are you here?"

How could somebody hate Crypt Keeper? He's a puppet storyteller/comedian who tells jokes that are so bad they're funny, like an undead Fozzy Bear from the Muppets.

To me, most of the show and movies overall were incredibly corny, bouncing between simply annoyingly bad and so bad its funny. I think it's the tongue-in-cheek, cornball nature of the entire thing that makes it enjoyable to watch, so by adding a narrator who's jokes are groan-inducingly bad only adds to the corny humor of the piece overall.

Yeah, truisms like " the shortest way to a man's heart is through his ribs !"
Or in his game of chop-chop poker with the mummy, after the mummy's head ended
down in the waste-basket :
"you must know when to quit while still 'a head'"
And the post-credits scene where the Crypt Keeper in an evening suit, came out
of a luxury limousine and got escorted by glamourous hostesses to a guillotine
for his own skull-chopping off.

He was the exact same way in the comics books, upon which the TV show and these spinoff movies were based. He was always supposed to be comedic and the bad puns are a staple of his character. I still grin at his over-the-top and silly jokes, corny as they are.
