Is it not in incredibly poor taste to show the kids' dead naked bodies?

I was not expecting to see uncensored footage of deceased naked children when I fired up this documentary. Is that not incredibly insensitive to the families of these kids? To have their kids' dead bodies immortalized in an HBO documentary? That seems really awful to me. How did HBO even obtain that crime scene footage?

As far as the documentary is concerned, that gruesome footage is necessary to establish a solemn mood from the start.and help us to understand the highly emotive reactions from evetybody concerned. I will say--25 years after I first saw this, it remains the documentary I most reacted to because I knew nothing of the case and couldn't believe Damian Eacholes and the others got that sentence. I was overjoyed when they were released.

A warning is displayed at the beginning, just moments before the bodies are shown.

It literally warns of graphic crime scene footage.
