Did anyone cry?

Did anyone actually cry watching this movie? Movies don't usually get me emotionally, but this one was a real tearjerker.

I cry every time I see this movie, I watch it every couple of years. Then again I like the tragic love story movies Atonement, Titanic, Etc.

I felt badly for Almasy when he carried his dead beloved out of the cave but I didn't cry. I really didn't like or connect with any of the characters. I do remember thinking when his plane caught fire, "man, this just isn't your day".

reply

I cried at the end, but Atonement, oh man...I bawled for an hour or more :P

I was sad when Clifton realized that his wife was cheating on him. I identified with him more than her, and couldn't give her adultery my sympathy. I appreciate that this film shows how adultery destroys marriages, and can even ultimately destroys life itself (seen in Clifton's eventual murder/suicide). I've seen too much of that in real life to not be emotionally impacted by such selfishness and pain in a film. It's a sad movie, for sure.

Yes, I cried several times. The scene in the chapel where Kip latches a rope about Hana and suspends her high to see the frescos was absolutely beautiful. The music was mesmerizing and it alone brought tears to my eyes during several scenes.

No.
