Screws the pooch in the climax

even though some scenes or situations were a bit reality-stretched during the first 75 minutes, the climax at the satellite goes a bit too far, & also gets a bit boring,
how did Chip get the girl tied up & dangling by a cable 30 feet from the center of the dish? & then suddenly they're climbing up the ladder, which she is doing quite casually under threat of a small nailgun?
really lost me at the end there, otherwise a pretty consistent dark comedy until then,

Jim should revisit this character now 25 years later, & do a really cynical, creepy version
