So...what did you get out of this movie?

I watched this last night as my first WA film and it didn't phase me at all. The cast and characters were likeable, but I thought this film was exceedingly average, not good or bad or standout in any way. After the film ended I just was like "Uh, ok?" and got nothing out of it...so I ask what this film does for you and why you appreciate t so much?

It's funny because I watched Rushmore tonight and absolutely loved everything about it, and I feel like I totally got that movie, and on that board there's a question asking the exact same question...hence, I figure I might as well...

I think it's a movie that benefits from watching it a few times, saw it yesterday and it really clicked for me this time, the first time I saw it was ok, the second time it was pretty good, yeah so maybe you need to rewatch it.

I like the plot twists, I like the romance with Inez, I love the lines that Owen Wilson has, I like all the scenes with James Caan,I like that Mr. Henry burglarized Bob's house, I like the Texas accents of the lesser characters, I like seeing the boorish brother get his from James Caan, I like Luke Wilson's letter to Gracie, I like lines like: "He said, 'just because you're a *beep* doesn't mean you're not my brother.' That really touched me. I mean, he doesn't usually open up like that." I like the last scene where you think the whole 'escape' plan is real, I like the 'fight' scene by the pool, I like the way the misunderstanding about 'I love you' occurs and gets resolved.
Those are a few of the things I like about this very likeable film.

I liked that is came out in 1996 and we all had at least 10 years until the Wilson brothers became completely unlikable. Idiocracy and Wedding Crashers were the last movies either of these two were in that they were tolerable.

Bottle Rocket isn't great but it is fun and it is mostly just the characters and the subtle humor. Jimmy Caan makes it worth while and I rated it 6/10.

It took me quite a while to finally see it and I did today. I have heard good things about it but I can honestly see that this movie was a lot different than anything that the Wilson brothers have been in in the last decade. Okay, it could be argued about Owen Wilson being in the same damn type of movie all the time, though I did like Wedding Crashers a lot. As for Luke, I liked him in Blue Streak and Old School. I know that these two are known for working with Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, and Ben Stiller.

Personally, I can see that it was different from other movies that I have seen, but I still enjoyed it. Plus, it had a good story.

All I need is one mic...

For a Wes Anderson movie, it's the least of his that feels like a 'Wes Anderson movie'.

Many outdoor & road scenes & sequences, it's a nice light & breezy dramedy.

I really enjoy its sense of humour, & several payoffs.

The three main characters, Anthony-Dignan-Bob, are in loserville when we first meet them. Anthony has had a breakdown and is patronised by his much younger sister (very funny scene). Dignan has pretensions beyond his abilities and has been sacked. Bob is bullied by his older brother and doesn't know how to deal with him. By the end of the film Anthony has fallen in love. Bob has resolved his issues with his brother and they are getting along very well. And poor Dignan is in jail! He is the leader and most focused at the beginning of the film but by the end he's lost the most.

It's a great character study by means of farce.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.
