Michael J. Fox is one of a kind, so he's very hard, if not impossible for a replacement. He was the orginal deputy mayor, the orginals are usually better. The show was alot funnier with Mike. It didn't just revolve around Mike and his girlfriends, it involved the mayor, and his staff. Michael J. Fox (in my opinion)knows how to make people laugh, seemingly without trying. It just seemed to come naturally to him.

They should have just cancelled the show when Michael J. Fox said he was going to leave.
I also didn't like how half the supporting cast dissapeared after Charlie came on.

How can you even compare Charlie to Mike? I do not find Charlie very funny at all. Watched all of the shows with MIke and none with Charlie. I acutally got to catch Mike's last episode today,(before Charlie came on), and it was a real tearjerker. A great episode and a great signoff to one of the best comediens, actors and people around.

Definitely Mike. I've been catching up on some of the episodes on the FX network. He is the energy and focus on that series. Charlie is ok, but does not meaure up to Mike. Charlie is terrific on Two and a Half Men. I also missed the James character as well. Spin City was a terrific series that was overlooked.

shareMike. Honestly, this was HIS show, and before it premiered, all the critics were hailing this as Mike's big comeback. I remember talking with some classmates right before his final episode, and all of us agreeing that the show wouldn't last too much longer. I'm surprised it got two extra years.
"Have you lost your mind?! Cause I will help you find it!"
And I think the only reason it lasted that long after Mike left had to do with the fact ABC was the in the ratings basement (kinda like NBC now) and they didn't have much else to replace it with, no matter how terrible it was.

The episodes with Mike in were just better. When they took out Nikki and James and Mike, the show just got worse and worse.
Didn't much like the 1st season with Mikes girlfriend but they got better when she left.
I didn't care for Mike's 1st season gf either. I liked when he was with Nikki, and the Heidi Klum episodes were humorous as well.
