Reply to scratch88683,

The time spent by these characters, Mike and Charlie, is an "unfair" way of rationalising, who was better, since the characters of James, Nikki, Janelle and Stacy also took off. It wasn't "just Mike" that left. He wasn't the only person running the show, though he had a lot of force around him during his acting.

Mike was a very nice character and his facial expressions were/are amazing, so I prefer Mike, but I was very impressed with how Charlie Sheen handled his "Charlie". People have to remember that Sheen was replacing the POST of Fox, not of his character.

mike too here.. definetly..
why didnt they just end the show when he left? i thought it was a good ending, when fox left.. anyway, i dont mind charlie, just not in this role.
fox was funnier than sheen.. sheen was so shallow.

I didn't really get to see much of Charlie on the show - after Mike left, Channel 9 in Australia kept putting Spin City on at arkward times, and so I didn't get to see much. From what I saw, I liked Mike better, but Charlie was pretty good, considering the shoes he had to fill.

Mike! Charlie was fine too, and I still watched episodes with him in it, but nobody can replace Mike, in my mind. He's part of what makes the original Spin City, which is what it was when I first started watching it.

reply

This is a little late but I prefer Mike. Don't get me wrong; I thought Charlie was fine. Mike wind though. I personally feel that the whole show started to go downhill when Caitlin arrived. Then once Mike left (as well as Nikki, James, and Janelle) the show was only about Charlie and Caitlin and not so much about Stuart, Carter, Paul, and the Mayor. And furthermore, I also think that once Caitlin was the new girl in the office, Nikki and Janelle were overshadowed by her.

It is Mike for me.

The first three seasons were the best. The other three were not as great but they were still funny. And to be fair, I think that Charlie Sheen was perfect for the role.

reply

I say Charlie.. just the history of his character makes him the winner :) ('I had groupies and a tourbus, but I wasn't even in a band!') Plus he has better chemistry with Caitlin

reply

Michael Flaherty, hands down! Charlie Sheen's 'style of acting' works for
Two And A Half Men, but comes off stiff and boring in Spin City.

"you're not thinking 4th dimensionally!"
"yeah, I have a problem with that"

reply

I agree. I love Charlie in 'two and a half men' but in spin City it was Mike all the way. you could tell the contrast between Mike and Charlie in the episodes they appeared in together. mike's last episode was so sad, I cry every single time I see it, especially when he runs down the hall and high fives everyone and hugs them all

reply

obviously mike. Charlie had one facial expression and talked so boring.

If you cant amaze people with your intelligence, confuse them with your bull$hit.

charle was good, but had better chemistry with the mayor whioch was what the show is about the deputy mayor and the mayor. overall though mike had better shemistry witht he staff

reply

mike

reply

Ofcourse Mike.

reply

Mike, it was never the same without Mike, and the final few episodes that didn't have Stuart and not much of the other cast members were really dull.

reply

I prefered Charlie, just because I thought Charlie's character was funnier. All the other characters are slightly disfunctional in some way and Mike was a little but too straight for me.

I thought Charlie's compulsive gambling and womanising provided some of the funniest moments of the show.

reply

Ya, it was funny once or maybe twice. But by his tenth episode, everything he said was predictable and dull. His character was never developed. Mike Flaherty became a person while Charlie Crawford was just a character. Yes, we had 54 less episodes to know him, but we knew almost as much at the beginning about him as we did at the end.

Michael J. Fox was the best by far. Of the 100 MJF episodes, about 80 were really funny, 10-15 were alright, and only 5-10 were really just not that good. Of the 46 CS episodes, I've seen 38 and I only found 3 to be really funny and another half dozen or so to even be enjoyable to watch. They really were not as good as the MJF episodes.

The thing is that sometimes Mike came and looked a little screwed up. He has Parkenses disease (However that is spelled) and I think it affected him a bit. He sometimes seemed to shriver and tremble. He's face at the end of hes time wasn't all the great either, he looked as if always he had seen a ghost. Or if he was thinking about something else before saying hes lines.

I Like charlie Sheen Better. I duno why, seems that mike didn't make it seem funny 4 me. Only my opinion ofcourse.

reply

I prefer Charlie : he's funnier than Mike

reply

I like Mike more because his character and relationships developed far more than Charlie's could have, even if he had two more seasons to do it. Charlie Sheen's character wasn't really allowed room to grow.

Charlie has a few good gags though and has an episode or two where Sheen pulls off everything better than Michael J. Fox could have DREAMED with the given material. Then again, I love Michael J. Fox more than I do Charlie Sheen.

Both Charlie Sheen and Michael J. Fox are talented and are very good in their roles, but I'll have to say Michael J. Fox, he was great.
