CGI while Stark is suiting up (season 1)

Does anyone know why CGI animation was inserted in the first few episodes when Tony was suiting up? Seemed weird and looked more to cover up something.

My theory is that they wanted to use CGI, cause back then it was new and looked really cool. I think they only use it for that one scene, cause it was still mighty expensive. I could be wrong.

Yeah, I just think that Marvel wanted to showcase CGI just like they did with the Spider-Man (there was CGI for the New York City buildings that Spidey would swing in front of) cartoon because "they could". Of course now, the CGI has aged really, really poorly and sticks out like a sore thumb. But at the time, it was considered really innovative and cutting-edge.

I also think that Marvel did that because Iron Man is after-all, the ultimate technology based superhero. And what was more cutting-edge technology wise at the time than virtual reality?

That was crap compared to Luxo Jr from 1986. They didn't have Pixar's technology.

Funny that Disney wants $2 for a 2 min video. Pirated on youtube.

It sort of reminds me also of The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest TV series from around the same time period. In hindsight, the CGI stuff like the Questworld gimmick was shoehorned in there presumably because the producers wanted a show that could not only cutting edge and futuristic, but because VR was trendy at the time.

It's not like on Beast Wars which also had what's considered primitive, early '90s era CGI because the characters were already robots, so of course they're supposed to look "artificial". On Iron Man, Tony Stark like Jonny Quest, is a flesh and blood human being, so the whole thing of him suddenly transforming into a computerize, three dimensional special effect looks incredibly fake.
