One very big misconception this movie gives off...

...and though it's one of my very most favorite movies (I'm not complaining at all), I just think it's not an accurate depiction.

Now admittedly don't know if drag queens in bigger cities live out their daily lives differently from where I live, but I have several friends who are drag queens and I know them on and off stage. They don't live their daily lives passing themselves off as women. These three drove cross country living and behaving as three women (career girls), then hiding themselves from harsh lighting so they wouldn't be found out, when they didn't necessarily need to.

I guess it was just played up for the movie.

Of course. During the day, the average drag queen is just a man with overplucked eyebrows.

But wouldn't be the average cross-country road trip be more fun in full drag? Come on, you KNOW it would...

Oh hell yeah, if my friends drove out in drag, I would go WITH them!
