It IS a fun, enjoyable movie. I watched it for the first time a few years ago and recently revisited it, and even shared it with a friend. It's an entertaining thriller that also hits you in the feels with its nostalgic mid-90s style.

I once had someone try to convince me that it's every bit as good as Se7en, which came out the same year, and that the only reason it wasn't as big of a hit was because it was a female-lead story. I think that's nonsense--in no universe is Copycat the equal of Se7en--but it's a good movie that deserved more credit than it got.
