Would she have gotten out of that truck if it weren't pouring out??
At the end, when they were stuck at the stop light, she has her hand on the car door ready to bolt to Robert's truck!
I think she would have left if it weren't pouring out!

No
shareNot sure. But one of my most memorable and touching scenes in my movie memories.
shareI don't think it would matter even if it wasn't raining. She just couldn't leave her husband abruptly.
shareHer hand on the door handle merely signifies that she had an intense desire to be with him. But she was never seriously going to leave the car. I think the candle-dinner scene established that detail. She wants to be with him (ie her hand on the door handle). But she knows she cannot (ie - stay in the car).
