Boy this movie didnt age well

I rewatched it today and those deep, profound conversations i thought were amazing sounded to me like a couple of 15 year olds that think that they figured life out are trying to impress each other. I guess as we age, trying to look deep and saying every little observation we have out loud as if people cannot see it if we stay silent becomes awkward and silly.

Isn't that the whole point of the movie?

Replace 15 with 22 and yeah, you described the movie exactly as intended. Besides, it's not the actual thoughts that are all that important, it's the way the two build their connection through dialogue.

Uh, all because you seemed to have missed the intention on your first watch doesn't it mean it aged well. They're young people trying to impress each other and they're full of pseudo-intellectual bullshit as they grapple with their own fears and insecurities. This is pretty common lol.

As others have mentioned, I'm guessing if you put this criticism in Linklater's face, his reaction would be something like, "Well, yeah, that's pretty much what I was going for."
