A few people think Kevin Costner should have played Lovell instead of Hanks because of their similarities, with hindsight I'd still stick with Hanks.
shareAgree. Hanks is a tool and total asshat, but I can't think of a better actor anywhere.
I mean, how much different was his age and haircut in Apollo 13 from what was portrayed in Forrest Gump, yet in both of those films, I see Jim Lovell and Forrest Gump, not Tom Hanks. Even when watching A League of Their Own, I see Jimmy Dugan, not Hanks, Lovell, or Gump.
